MySQL Server Views

What each subview of the Server view is for.

The Server view covers everything about the server that isn't about one schema object. Its subviews are listed in the sidebar on the left. Each has its own page with columns explained.

Locks Who is blocking whom, right now?
Index Usage Which indexes are never used, and which tables are read without one?
Processes Who is connected and what is each connection running?

Starting Points #

Something is slow right now

  1. Processes: find the long-running query and stop it if needed.
  2. Locks: if queries are waiting rather than working, find the blocking session.
  3. InnoDB Status: check queries queued inside InnoDB and the buffer pool hit rate.

Something is slow in general

  1. Query Digest: rank query patterns by total time.
  2. Slow Queries: read the worst offenders' full text and execution details.
  3. Index Usage: find full-scanned tables and indexes that only cost writes.

Routine housekeeping

  1. Index Usage: drop indexes nothing reads.
  2. Error Log: read what the server has been warning about.
  3. Variables: confirm the configuration is what you think it is.
