Grouping Objects
Group objects by type or by name, so a schema with hundreds of tables is easier to navigate.

Grouping by Type #
Group Objects by Type puts tables, views, functions, procedures, triggers, and events each under their own group folder.
To group by type
-
Right-click anywhere in the sidebar.
-
Choose Group Objects by Type.
When using this setting, you still have access to all types, but don't need to see them all at the same time.
Grouping by Name #
If your table naming scheme uses commonly-shared prefixes such as:
user_profiles,user_sessions,user_settingsstore_line_items,store_orders,store_productsEquipmentCategories,EquipmentModels,EquipmentItems
… then using Group Objects by Name will automatically group those related tables into group folders. (A group is only made if the would be 3 or more items in it.)
Right-click in the sidebar, go to the submenu, and choose one of the two, which are named after the convention they demonstrate:
| Choice | How names are split | Example |
|---|---|---|
separated_by_underscores |
At _ characters. |
user_profiles, user_sessions and user_settings group under user. |
UsingCamelCase |
At camel-case boundaries. | OrderHeader, OrderLine and OrderStatus group under Order. |
Choose the active option again to turn name grouping off.

The submenu in the same contextual menu offers , , and . Smaller rows fit more objects on screen; larger rows are easier to hit precisely.
