Conditional Highlighting

Use conditional highlighting to color rows and cells in the Table Content view based on their values, such as to make overdue or failed rows stand out. Rules are defined per table, and are saved with a saved connection. For a connection that isn't saved, they last only while it's open.

Rules #

Each rule has a condition and colors to apply when it matches. Rules are evaluated top to bottom, and every matching rule applies.

  • Click to add a rule at the bottom of the list, or to remove one.
  • Uncheck Highlights Enabled to turn off all highlighting without deleting the rules.

A condition is a column, an operator (is, contains, starts with, is greater than, etc.), and a value. The color effects are:

Effect What it changes
Row Background Color Background of the entire row.
Row Text Color Text color of every cell in the row.
Field Background Color Background of just the field that matched.
Field Text Color Text color of just the field that matched.

Check an effect's box to activate it, then click its color well to pick a color.

Copying Rules Between Tables #

  1. Choose Copy Highlights from the action menu (gear button) in the editor of the source table.
  2. In the destination table's editor, choose Paste Highlights.

Only rules whose column also exists in the destination table are pasted.

Good to Know #

  • When several rules set a row background on the same row, the last match wins. Field colors are applied per column by their own rules.
  • Highlighting is visual only. It doesn't affect sorting, filtering, or exported data.
