Araelium Edit Preview 6 Released
Top
October 15, 2007 : (Anaheim, CA) -- Araelium Group has released an update of its new Mac OS X specific source code authoring and project management application, Araelium Edit, which is now in public beta.
The application is designed with an emphasis on developers writing with dynamic and markup languages commonly used for internet applications such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, PERL, Lasso, PHP, and others. Araelium Edit features a project management environment along with multi-language-per-file aware source code editing.
Araelium Edit projects can bring together in one place all the files associated with the development project: source code, master graphics files, requirements documents, reference specs, documentation, project management, and more. Any document that may be an active component of the project, or a useful reference such as server config files can be organized into the project by including it directly into the project, or by reference to the file.
The source code editor features multi-document windows, multi-document search with regular expressions, user-defined syntax definitions, user-defined "function" label extraction, and several tools for auto completing and inserting text and language constructs.
“We saw a need for a developer's toolset that was lighter than the heavy IDEs, had a better Mac experience than ported apps, and would provide an environment more capable and integrated than editors which focus too much on HTML and maybe one scripting language,” said Greg Willits, one of the company's co-founders.
Seth Willits, co-founder and lead developer added, “This first version covers the essentials, and we've received a lot of positive and useful feedback from early testers. Now the app is ready for a wider audience so we can find those little details that need polished, and hear from a broader range of developers.”
This latest preview version adds numerous user interface and feature refinements, optimization for performance with large files and projects, and refinements to the syntax definitions and code complete tools.
The application, which requires Mac OS 10.4 for either PowerPC or Intel systems, can be downloaded now from http://www.araelium.com/ and users are encouraged to join the public talk list to discuss the application.
